Bahar came to America from Iran when she was 17. She didn’t speak any English and faced an uphill battle against many gender stereotypes. Yet through incredible hard work and willpower she climbed to the very top of her field. She was the embodiment of the American Dream - exactly where she wanted to be. At least, that’s what she thought. It wasn’t until she had an extreme physical reaction that she had a complete change in mentality.

My failure was lacking the courage to be me sooner

Questions to consider:

  1. Has there ever been a time in your life where you’ve realized that what you thought was a success was actually a failure in disguise?

  2. We all have to make sacrifices in how we use our limited amount of hours in our days. If the time spent in your day was organized in a pie chart (i.e. family, work, exercise, TV, etc.), what would be the biggest slice? How big would the category be that you value the most? Which sections are sacrificed most frequently to accommodate for others?
